Campaigns – Medal – Awards:   Inducted April 4, 1941.  Honorably discharged October 22, 1945.  Spent 33 months overseas in the Pacific Theater.  Assigned to Regimental Headquarters, 103d Infantry Regiment, 43d Infantry Division.  Soon after overseas duty, promoted to Platoon Sergeant.  Later, received battlefield commission to 2nd Lieutenant.  Entire service was in Intelligence and Reconnaissance for Regiment Headquarters, and when assigned, for Division Headquarters.

Received Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart with Oakleaf Cluster, Silver Star, Bronze Star with Oakleaf Cluster, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze Arrowhead for 2 beach-head invasions, and 4 Bronze Battle Stars for Guadalcanal, Northern Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and Luzon.  Also received Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation and Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
